We've been asked to provide the jewelry that we use to pierce the anti anxiety piercing.  These are surgical steel, 18 gauge with a 10mm diameter. The ball is attached on one side for easy insertion and removal. Price is for the pair. Conclusions:  This research is now considered completed with the conclusion that this piercing is effective on reducing anxiety and in some cases eliminating it.  Clients average rating for the effectiveness is a 7.4 out of 10.  All were asked to give a final rating where 1 meant no change in day to day anxiety and 10 meant they were no longer getting any anxiety at all.  Please read the whole blog if you would like to see our clients reactions and quotes.  We are making this piercing available at a very affordable rate so hopefully by doing that people will get it done the right way.  It is 2 piercings, one for each side of the lobe for 40.00 plus tax (46.00)

 Research notes:

After seeing great success with the daith piercing on migraines I wanted to see if there was anything at all out there concerning anxiety.  Long story short I finally came across an acupuncturist that had done some experimenting with a piercing on his clients and was having excellent success.  Since I didn't have a long term personal knowledge of the acupuncturist I decided I needed to do my own study to confirm his findings.,

It's important that I keep it down to about 12 persons so that I can closely monitor daily changes.  I've labeled them simply as test 1, test 2 etc.  Followups will go on for 10 days after they have been pierced.

Concerns:  Out of control use of piercings.  (other piercers please scroll all the way to the bottom and read the notes I have left for you) This piercing is precise in placement and type of jewelry. I'm after specific tissue.  I feel it's important for my test persons to not publish photos of their piercings because many may assume that all they need to do is shove a needle in that area and all is well when that is not the case.  I'm after very specific tissue so if it's not grabbed it won't work.  This issue of anxiety is dear to my heart, as it is for many, so if it ends up that people, out of desperation, go ahead and pop a needle through the general area and miss that tissue so it doesn't work then word will get out that the piercing is useless.  This would be unfortunate for everyone if it turns out that it being done correctly shows great changes for sufferers.  For this reason I have had each test person sign a contract of non disclosure meaning that they can't post any photos of their piercings on social media until the test is complete.

At the point of writing this blog I have pierced all of my test persons.  I am numbering them according to when they were pierced so test 1 was pierced first, test 2 2nd and so on.  I am doing daily follow up to discuss issues that would have normally cause anxiety before the piercing verses how much anxiety they are experiencing now.  Most are social anxiety related with some extreme cases of agoraphobia.

I will update these cases daily.

Test person 4

On meds with a 35 percent reduction of anxiety as a result.  Anxiety causes room spins, extreme social anxiety so avoids going out, tunnel vision and mind runs fast when trying to sleep.

Pierced June 3rd

Followup

June 4th:  No swelling and only slight tenderness.  Was in situations where normally would have been anxious but felt great all day.

June 5th: Quote "The only time I even notice the piercing is when it gets itchy or when I wrap my hair in a towel too tight. I get reminded lol.  When you asked me what causes me anxiety I didn't mention the separation anxiety I get when I'm away from my husband.  It's a build up of not knowing when he's coming back of if he's going to need to be picked up when I'm trying to feed the kids or something my brain goes through all these scenarios.  He's been in and out more than enough times and I have had no issues or grilled him about times etc.  Also this morning my husband and I actually watched a movie before I did my housework without my thoughts distracting me about my house not being how it's "suppose to be". That was huge for me. If you run into a couple that both suffers from anxiety I would 110% suggest both of them get the piercing.  Mine and my husbands attitudes, tones etc have been much different for the positive. I think it as a great idea, both of us did."

June 6th:  Was asked to rate on a scale from 1-10 on the effectiveness of the piercing on their anxiety. 1 being nothing changed and 10 being totally anxiety free.  Client rated a 10.

June 9th: Had some anxiety but not as much as would normally have over same situation.

June 13th: Was asked to give the piercings a final rating from 1 to 10. One being no change and ten being anxiety free.  Quote:  Hi. If a 9.5 is an option that's what I'll take. Would have been a 10 only for that one day

Researchers Notes:

June 11th:  I am pretty much convinced that this piercing works just as well as the daith piercing for migraines does.  I've kept in constant contact with my clients and have noticed that the text messages get more and more positive each time.  Most have come to their own conclusions that the piercings work because of the extreme differences they are having in situations that would normally either set them off on huge anxiety attacks or even panic attacks but is no longer taking them to that level.  They are all reporting that they feel more inclined to get out in social situations than they did before.  I picked my clients based on age and gender.  I wanted a good mix so I have people that range from 18 to 45 years old with a mix of male and female.  The age didn't seem to matter on effectiveness nor did the gender. All males reported very noticeable differences in the same way as females.  I have rec'd a huge number of messages from ppl that want to try this piercing out before the testing is over. I was turning them away because I didn't want them spending their hard earned money on something that I wasn't sure would work or not but at this point in the testing I would not turn them away.  I have decided to post a picture of the piercing but have a few concerns. Very specific tissue is targeted so if it's even off buy a millimeter it matters.  I'm concerned that people will start self piercing, miss the spot and ruin it for themselves to have it done correctly. We are making this piercing available at a very affordable rate so hopefully by doing that people will get it done the right way.  It is 2 piercings, one for each side of the lobe for 42.00 plus tax (46.00)

A note to other piercers:

Please do your own research on this. Placement is everything and it's very specific tissue you need to grab. It doesn't sit in the exact same spot on everyone. It's best to speak to an acupuncturist so that you can grab that tissue.  If you miss it will not work. Offer it up to some of your clients for free so that you know for sure that you are hitting the right spot and that it's working.

    Hi Sierra,
We’ve done up a video to show other piercers how to do this piercing. It’s at the bottom of the blog.

  • Shameless

    Hi Laura
We did several people that had their lobes stretched. It’s not a problem.

  • Teresa

Oh my god I would love to get this done. I have suffered with anxiety for 21 years now and on so much medication. I am tired of always worrying about what if I go out I could have an attack. I suffer everyday. If I told you 21 years of my pain and suffering we would be here along time. All I know is I would do anything to help myself to stop or at least settle this problem down. My husband and kids have been so great to me through my bad days. I just want to feel better.

  • Keilani

Hi. I love the concept of this and the practical research along with it. I do have a question, though. Will it work with stretched lobes? My lobes are currently at 3/4" but just after reading this, I’m completely sold. I absolutely want them done.

  • Sierra

I’m not sure why my last comment posted twice, I’m from West Virginia. I’m not familiar with NS…
